logo.gif약간 늦은 소식이지만 구글 한국 엔지니어링 센터 소식과 나름대로 연관이 있을 것 같아 소개합니다.

제가 알기로는 스트레이트타임즈는 싱가포르에서는 가장 큰 영자신문입니다. 이 곳에 구글 싱가포르 R&D센터 개설에 대한 보도가 나왔나 봅니다.

The news was reported by the The Straits Times which quoted the company’s Southeast Asia managing director of sales and operations Richard Kimber.

Singapore is one of the highly networked nations in the South East Asian region and the government has shown their keenness to invite high tech companies to invest in the region.

A public relations firm representing Google in Singapore, The Hoffman Agency Singapore, did not deny the report, but said Kimber's comments were meant to recognize the city-state's efforts to foster talent in the industry and did not address the possibility of setting up a research and development center here.

여러가지 정황으로 볼 때 구글이 싱가포르를 선택할 것이고, 또 싱가포르가 적합하다는 점에서는 이론이 없을 듯 싶습니다. 문제는 구글의 싱가포르 연구센터가 어떤 지위에서 어떤 일을 할 것인가인데요. 아직은 확인할 길 없으니 어떤 것도 명확한 건 없습니다. 여전히 '둘러보고' 있는 수준인 것 같습니다.
