REDMOND, Wash., and CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — May 15, 2008 — Today, Microsoft Corp. and One Laptop per Child (OLPC) announced an agreement that will make the Microsoft Windows operating system available on OLPC’s low-cost XO laptops for the world’s poorest children. Through this agreement, trials of the XO running Windows are planned to begin as soon as June in key emerging markets. Recognizing that the challenge of providing high-quality education for children in the developing world is too large to be solved by any single organization, Microsoft and OLPC are committed to working with governments and nongovernmental organizations to ensure the success of these pilot programs. <후략>

지난 15일 보도자료였습니다. 내부 근무하느라 미처 챙기지 못했지만, 이 한장의 사진(MS 본사 제공)은 정말 많은 걸 이야기해 줍니다.

끝내 수명까지 연장해 가며 ULCPC에 들어가는 윈도 XP(http://itviewpoint.com/52723)를 보더라도... 윈도XP는 정말 생명력이 대단한 것 같습니다.

'윈도 2000'의 아성을 위협하는 인기라고 보면 너무 성급한 걸까요.
